Hello, I am currently taking a course in beginner's Chinese (mandarin) and I was wondering from where in their mouth Chinese people speak. For instance, English is spoken from the most part in the throat, so where would one speak from to make Chinese pronunciation more accurate.I am currently taking a course in beginner's Chinese (mandarin)?
From all the way in the back (sh矛, r猫n) to the very, very tip of their mouth (xi猫 xie). It's very diverse. Generally, the sh / ch / zh / r / i / e sounds are going to be in the back of the throat (those last two if we're talking like shi / chi / ri / and sheng / etc). The x / q / j sounds will be in the front, with the teeth.
If you need help with pronunciation, try using this dictionary (it has sound clips for each syllable): http://www.mdbg.net/chindict/I am currently taking a course in beginner's Chinese (mandarin)?
You should use tongue, throat and mouth correctly.
I suggest you communicate and learn from a native Chinese speaker or teacher. You can make some native Chinese friends and take some free courses on line.
There is a ';Nihao Chinese'; program which is a free trail on line.
Visit http://www.echineselearning.com/nihao
You will find a surprise.
I'm a newbie too. I have noticed that third-tone vowels are in the back of the throat. You might want to watch some on the clips on YouTube. A couple of young people there give some Mandarin lessons there, and you can ask your questions directly.
Good luck! It's fun, and we are gonna have to learn it sooner or later.
nee how ma? hen how.
