I am currently in my College's swim team...sprinter...Swim season is now over and I would like to train for a triathlon...I have never participated in one but a friend of mine said I should lol...Any websites that you guys can offer to help me out or tips.
Thanks.I am a beginner at Triathlons...I would like to know how to train for one?
For a triathlon I'd say you're really going to need some heavy strength in your legs. This means using the kickboard a lot in swimming practice, skipping/hopping in running exercises and then riding your bike a lot on a high gear (before the race, use the bike you've been using for the past month just so that you're used to it, don't use a brand-new bike the day of a race, this also goes for your running shoes and swimming goggles).
You'll also need arm control but not necessarily strength. Your arms in a triathlon are more for controlling your body although they'll help you in swimming so you'll still need good arm strength for that. But as for cycling and running your arms really control your body in terms of how efficient your body is working. In cycling your arms will also steer the bike obviously so you'll need to work on bike control and maneuvering.I am a beginner at Triathlons...I would like to know how to train for one?
Here is the calender

Here is another website:

First you need to find out what is your worse thing... run or cycling (since you a swimmer, swimming should be no problems...). Then get magazine like Runner or Triathlete... and it will usually include program in it...
Find a race... in the calender and enroll in it... should start with the Sprint Triathlon Competition... and most of these website have suggested training program...
Have Fun... and enjoy the game
