Well I learned on a Fender, and I really love it. I've also played an Ibanez, which just feels amazing on the fingers. These brands have some really great guitars that don't cost too much; some are made just for beginners. The one I learned on (the Fender) is an awesome guitar for a developping player, since it doesn't matter whether you're a pro or just starting out. You can play it differently depending on your level. You can learn so much by playing one guitar as you develop your skills.
I don't like the Yamaha and fender's that much. I would recomend an ovation cc24. It cost 300. It is a great guitar. It has a rounded back so you have to get used to it but it produces a great sound. Your question sounds like me a few years ago. But with this guitar you can also plug it in to an amp and crank up the distortion if so inclined. Im 16 so you can imagine i have done that a few times. But you should definitely start out with an acoustic so you can build up your calluses. I like electrics but i love my acoustic. The acoustic will also allow you to build up the strength in your fingers . I hoped this helped if you have any more questions feel free to ask
Alright well I started off with a squire electric guitar, good guitar for beginners, not acoustic but it's only like 100 bucks and its pretty decent. I then upgraded to a epiphone standard les paul which was pretty rad I would def recomend it. I had those 2 until I finally was able to buy a Gibson. My top 3 best beginner brands would have to be Squire, Epiphone, and Ibanez all those great brands especially for starters and in your price range. Best of luck hope this helps.
Get a Taylor acoustic guitar. Most are between the $500-$1200 range, but I bought a Taylor Big Baby for like $449. It was by far the best purchase ive ever made. Also look at Schector Guitars. Go to your local music store and just play as many guitars as you can, then decide which one you like the best.
There's a few acoustics I've been looking at myself.
Personally I'm torn between the Ibanez V220S and the Yamaha F335.
Both of those are around 200 dollars. They are both beginner guitars. They are both really sturdy and have a great sound. With the price being so low it won't hurt your wallet too much if you decide you don't want to play, or your friend breaks it on accident.
don't know my dad got a spanish Acoustic off ebay that was a 2,000-3,000 dollar guitar for only a few hundred. look on ebay go to google a type in Acoustic guitar reviews and see what comes up.
electric for sure
