I have a buddy that is a professional tattoo artist. and i am going to start receiving training from him but i would like to know if there are any recommendations on beginner tattoo kits. which ones are worth research and which ones are not worth the time? i would really appreciate and help thank you!Recommendations on beginner tattoo kits?
If your buddy is a professional, then he works in a professional shop and plans on apprenticing you AT HIS SHOP. In most staes this requires a legal agreement and him signing a note of responsiblilty for you to aquire a learners permit of sorts.
You wont need any beginner kit. If he's worth learning from he will guide you through the process of identifiying and purchasing quality machines WHEN YOUR READY. Or if he is super traditional, like the dude that apprenticed me, then he will give you a pair of workhorses when you test out for your licence! :)Recommendations on beginner tattoo kits?
If your buddy has implied that you will need a ';kit';, then I would have some serious worries about the ';training'; he is gonna provide.
';Kits'; are usually an attempt to sell off crap that no one with experience is going to want. The machines are almost always sub-standard in quality, the needles are generic, the inks .... oh man.
If you are thinking what I think you are thinking.... dont try for any shortcuts! You will lose out. Dont do it. Dont do it Dont do it.
If you lose an apprenticeship , word gets around, dont do it.
Ask your buddy. If he is the proffessional then he is going to know a whole lot more than a bunch of people on Yahoo! Answers.
